Diane Lane Biography
Diane Lane was born on January 22, 1965 in New York City, to acting coach father Burt Lane and Playboy centerfold Colleen Farrington. Lane had made her stage debut in acclaimed theater director Andrei Serbian's Medea and The Cherry Orchard. At 13 she made her film debut in A Little Romance, and at 14 was featured on the cover of Time.
Lane made a hit with audiences in the back to back cult films Rumble Fish and The Outsiders. After a couple box office flops, Streets of Fire and The Cotton Club, Diane made another big impression on a sizable audience with the popular and critically acclaimed TV mini-series Lonesome Dove that Lane. She was nominated for an Emmy Award for the role. Lane won further praise for her role in 1999's A Walk on the Moon.
Lane was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in 2002 for her performance in Unfaithful. She followed that film up with Under the Tuscan Sun in 2003, based on the best-selling book by Frances Mayes.
